The Lozen Project
Event Description
On July 11th and 12th, The Lozen Project partnered with River King Forge and Volundr Forge to host a two-day blacksmithing and blade-making workshop in Hutto, TX, running from 9am to 3pm each day.
The workshop was designed specifically for N’de (Apache) relatives, offering hands-on instruction in traditional knife-making (besh) guided by experienced smiths from both forges. Participants were immersed in the craft of blade-making from start to finish, learning the techniques of shaping, forging, and finishing a knife under direct mentorship.
Alongside the smithing sessions, a cultural lesson was also held, weaving together the practical craft with deeper Apache heritage and tradition.
The event was sponsored by Texas Knife Steel and brought together community, culture, and craft in a meaningful two-day experience.
